Factory Farming information argument?? Vegetarians help?

I recently became vegetarian. I am about half way between vegan and veggie. I work at a vegab restaurant and a meat restaurant. I recently got into an argument with a girl at the meat one. She didn't understand why I didn't want to eat meat anymore. I told her all the facts and horrible things that I have learned. She then said she was raised on a farm and that NONE of the stuff i said happens, happens. I told her little family farms are different han factory farming. She said everything ive learned is basicallt wrong, and that organizations like peta and the internet and media all blow it out of proportion. I reaaaly dont like arguing about this topic and got upset at one point and almost cried. How do you deal with these types of people that think no matter what that you're wrong. So far all my friends and family have been supportive and enjoy hearing new facts that i have learned...I don't wanna argue, how do you deal with these kinds of people????
