Why do people not appreciate real, good music?

I thought of this also, I always admired such singers and wondered why are they not as famous as the other pop singers, what I noticed is that most people have lost their taste and followed the media, forcing themselves to like whatever music mentioned on the radio, they give you one average song of Rihanna, they like all her other songs. Where is the common sense?
